Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy is the main character of the Anime and Manga One Piece . He is the captain of the Vogue Merry, then thereafter of Thousand Sunny.

History

Childhood

Luffy passed its childhood in a village of fishermen named Fushia located on East Blue. It bound friendship with a band of pirates which had as a captain Shanks the Russet-red. Luffy was éperdu of admiration for his/her friends and wanted to become pirate in its turn, but Shanks did not want to take it in its crew because it was too much young!
One day, he ate by error one of the Fruits of the Demon (known under the name of Fruit of Rubber the or Gomu Gomu No Semi ) that the crew had. This fruit changed it into man-rubber band. It is able to stretch its body in an impressive way thus enabling him to work out techniques of frightening combat. But the other side of the coin is that it is unable to swim (like all the people under the influence of a Fruit of the Demon ), losing any force in the ocean, making it run like an anvil, which is a large handicap for a pirate.

One day, it caused a gangster named Higuma, which threw it on the open sea. It was saved in extremis teeth of a marine monster by Shanks which lost an arm there. It is shortly after that Shanks gave him its straw hat. This object, extremely invaluable with the eyes of Luffy, symbolizes on the one hand the friendship between Shanks and him, and on the other hand its promise to become not only one large pirate, but especially the Seigneur of the pirates. It is only once this achieved objective which Luffy will return to him its hat. For that, it must cross dangerous the Route of all the dangers and find One Piece, treasure coveted of all the pirates which will enable him to agree such a title.

After long a 10 years drive, it left the island where it had grown and left to research team-members ready to help it to achieve its dream: to become the Lord of the Pirates! At the time of its tour through East Blue, it was made many friends but also of many enemies such as the Navy or certain local pirates. It was not taken with the serious one before the Navy took to note of its victories against prestigious pirates of East Blue like the captains Baggy the Clown, Creek and the man-fish Arlong. Consequently, they put its head at price with height of 30 million Berry. After it had overcome one of the 7 Capitaines corsairs, Crocodile alias Mr.0., its premium went up to 100 million berry, then finally, after it had destroyed partly Enies Lobby and had survived Buster Call, its head was put at 300 million berry!

Current chapters

Attention: this information is still new in Francophonie and treats final chapters published in Japan.

After his victory over the CP9, the group of assassins of the government, the crew of Luffy set out again in Water Seven, the city of water. In way, Luffy and its friends bid their farewell with the Merry Vogue which, broken by its last important fact, is not able any more to take the sea. At Seven Toilets, Franky decides to build a new ship with the assistance of Iceburg and the carpenters of Galley it Company. It envisages to offer the ship to Luffy, which it considers now as a friend (they fought together on Enies Lobby). During construction, Luffy and its crew discover the new official research opinions, published after the destruction D' Enies Lobby and of the CP9:

Monkey D. Luffy : 300 million berrys (initially 100 million and still before 30 million)
Roronoa Zorro : 120 million (initially 60 million)
Nico Robin : 80 million (initially 79 million)

The other members of the crews had also now a premium:

Sanji : 77 million
Nami : 16 million
Sogeking (it acts in fact of Pipo under its secret identity “ ”): 30 million
Tony Tony Chopper : 50 berrys (makes its premium of it is ridiculous because the navy did not understand that it was Zoan, they thought that it was the pet of the crew!)
Franky : 44 million

Personality and family ties

Luffy is a funny character and completely mild nutter. Its obstinacy, its faith in itself and its frankness give him the appearance of unconscious or of an idiot but the fact is that it is right often. Very credulous, he believes all that one tells him even the worst nonsenses (like the lies of Pipo!). He enormously holds with his friends and would do anything for them, even if it should sacrifice his own person. He can as make decisions when as the situation seems desperate and often makes it possible to leave the dead end by an unexpected action. He has an immense appetite (this characteristic seems to come from the character of Sangoku of the manga Dragon Ball , Eiichiro Oda being a fan of the series), with a taste pronounced for the meat: in eating gives it of balance almost instantaneously. In addition, it has an undeniable taste for the violation of prohibited and the provocation of engagements with frightening enemies, which can bring delicate situations for the crew.

Luffy has a big brother, Portgas D. Ace, which we saw, in the manga for the first time, in Alabasta. Like Luffy, Ace also ate a fruit of the demon, the Pyrogenic Fruit and can thus handle fire. He is also a pirate, he is besides the captain of the 2nd fleet of White Barbe. Ace is supposed very strong being, indeed, in its youth, whereas it did not have its fruit yet, it spread out Luffy with the brawl perpetually (whereas this one had capacities)!

Attention: some of this information are still new in Francophonie!

In chapter 431 (news in France) one learns that the large father of Luffy is the Garp vice-admiral (of its complete name Monkey D. Garp), the " soldier légendaire" who pursued Gold D. Roger. The 432 also teaches us that his/her father is the legendary Dragon revolutionist is Monkey D. Dragon!
An astonishing factor is the D. of Monkey D. Luffy. With good to look at there, six other characters have it: Portgas D. Ace, Monkey D.Garp, Monkey D.Dragon, Marshall D. Teach, Jaguar D. Saulo, and especially Gol D. Roger! It is not currently known if all the carriers of “have family ties between them, even if three of them are recognized members of the family of Luffy. Moreover, the doctor Kureha speaks about a will of D , people carrying this letter would thus be promised with a great future, this one will say it to us! Nico Robin is it-also very intrigued by the relation which exists between this name and the destiny of those which carries it.

Techniques

Luffy is undoubtedly the member most extremely of its crew. It is always him which faces the most frightening enemies and it shows a tenacity to any test. Being elastic, Luffy is of a phenomenal resistance, but it has also an impressive force as of the birth which the Fruit of the Rubber one comes to reinforce.

Attacks standards

Its techniques are based on two crucial factors: The elasticity of its body thanks to the capacities of the Fruit of Rubber the and its extraordinary force which it did not acquire with its capacities. Both used together enables him to survive attacks devastators and to strike its adversary with swiftness and power, it is one of the reasons for which Luffy is an increasingly dreaded combatant!

During the 10 years of drive which it made during its youth, it innovated and improved many techniques that it will be very useful for him at the time of its voyages, here are some:

Chewing Punch ( Gomu Gomu No Gun ): Its standard attack, it strikes its adversary of a terrible punch.

Chewing Kick ( Gomu Gomu No Muchi ): It gives a kick by making a circular motion with its leg all while stretching it, which makes it possible to sweep several tens of enemies of a blow.

Chewing Bazooka ( Gomu Gomu No Bazooka ): It very often uses this attack. It before stretches the maximum its two arms backwards before striking its adversary with the most possible force by using the palms with its two hands. Generally, the adversary is projected very far.

Chewing Balloon ( Gomu Gomu No Fuusen ): Defensive technique, Luffy inflates its body what enables him to return certain projectiles like a ball of gun.

Chewing not touches ( Gomu gomu No dameda! ): It uses this technique to prevent a person from taking due to him who belongs to him.

Chewing Rafale ( Gomu Gomu No Gatling Gun ): It very often gives punches to its adversary at an impressive speed, thus giving the effect which it has several arms!

Chewing Net ( Gomu Gomu Friendly No ): It stretches to the maximum its fingers and thus forms a kind of net which enables him to immobilize its adversaries.

Chewing Chops ( gomu gomu No ono ): It vertically stretches its leg and makes it return to strike on the ground, which makes large damage around him.

Chewing blow of ball ( gomu gomu No kane ): It rolls up its arms and its legs around the enemy then extends his neck backwards on several meters then gives a violent one blow of head to his adversary

Chewing fireworks ( gomu gomu No hanabi ): It jumps in the air, rotates quickly and launches a gust of punches and kicks elastic in all the directions.

Chewing bores ( gomu gomu No files ): It stretches its arm backwards and rolls up it on itself.

It gives a punch devastator by unrolling it.

Chewing deflagration ( gomu gomu No storm ): even thing that a chewing gust but by adding the feet in addition to the hands.

Chewing festival: gilded peony ( gomu gomu No fireworks golden delicious peony ): Even thing that chewing gust, except that its fist is wedged in a giant gold sphere.

Chewing gilded gust ( gomu gomu No golden delicious files ): Even thing that chewing gimlet, except that its fist is wedged in a giant gold sphere.

Chewing gun ( gomu gomu No gun ): Luffy gives a gust of punches in the vacuum to warm up and gives a great blow with the two hands.

Chewing volcano ( gomu gomu No volcano ): When Luffy is in a building, it sends its leg in the air and destroyed the roof and thus projects remains on the adversary being around the building.

GEAR

Recently it showed a novel method surpuissante completely innovating: the GEAR. This technique enables him to increase in a rather phenomenal way its speed and thus its force. It developed this movement after its heavy defeat against Ao Kiji. The word of GEAR is an English pun, indeed that quite simply means to change gear, in the car!
There exist 2 levels of GEAR for the moment: GEAR 2 and GEAR 3:

GEAR 2 : It uses it for the first time against Blueno, a member of CP9. It consists in increasing its blood pressure in order to improve the contribution in nutrients and oxygen of its muscles. It thus becomes stronger and more rapid, its skin reddens and from the vapor release themselves from its body because of the blood pressure. But this technique is not without counterparts. It damages its body and it can use it only one short amount of time, these reserves of nutrients being very quickly exhausted. It is then obliged to rest a certain time and especially to eat (meat preferably!). It uses in this form its attacks standards to which it adds " Jet". It can also use the Soru , a technique of the 6th style which gives very an high speed.

out of GEAR 2 luffy uses these techniques:

Chewing jet punch ( gomu gomu No jet pistol ): A chewing punch out of GEAR 2, the same thing as the chewing punch, in much faster and much more powerful
Chewing jet stamp ( gomu gomu No jet stamp ): A chewing stamp out of GEAR 2, the same thing as the chewing stamp but in much faster and powerful.
Chewing jet whipe ( gomu gomu No jet whip ): A chewing kick out of GEAR 2, even thing that the chewing kick in much faster and powerful, it sweeps all on its passage.
Chewing jet bazooka ( gomu gomu No jet bazooka ): the most powerful attack of luffy GEAR 2, it makes a chewing bazooka thousand times faster and powerful.
Chewing jet gust ( gomu gomu No jet gatling gun ): the ultimate attack of luffy out of GEAR 2 it launches a chewing gust out of GEAR 2. Considering a chewing jet punch, is very fast and powerful, that involves an avalanche of superhuman blows which do not even leave with the adversary time to counter-attack.

Luffy out of GEAR 2 Juste before the confrontation with Blueno: ''

GEAR 3 : It uses it the first time to smash a door then at the time of the combat against Lucci. It bites the inch and injects air in the bones of the arm. Those grow bigger like that its arm thanks to its elasticity, Luffy can then give blows devastators, but a little slow, with its adversaries thanks to its new oversize arm. It can also transfer this air in other bone as in those from the leg, thus varying its attacks. When Luffy decontaminates this form, it expires all the air of its body what has as an side effect narrowing it. The use of this level makes it possible luffy to return these members of the size of a giant. It remains under this size a certain time equivalent to time when it remained out of GEAR 3.

out of GEAR 3, Luffy uses:

Chewing gigant punch ( gomu gomu No gigant pistol ): A chewing punch out of GEAR 3 (the arm and the fist are inflated) .il is rather slow but the destroying effect is gigantic.

Chewing gigant axis ( gomu gomu No gigant axis ): A chewing axe out of GEAR 3 (the leg and the feet are inflated) .une attack more devastator of GEAR 3, luffy destroyed has half a boat containing 500 navy with this technique.

Others

In the manga, it is explained that the scar of Luffy under its left eye is the result of a wound car-inflicted in order to prove its courage with Shanks. In that animates is omitted (even in the original version) by fear that certain children try to imitate it.
Luffy has 17 years
the birthday of Luffy is on May 5th, the day of the children in Japan, it is thus Taureau.
Luffy oddly measures 1 meter 73.
Assez, Luffy child seems to be much more serious than our current Luffy!
Luffy likes to imitate his/her comrades. It receipt even assistance of Robin for his more brutal imitation of Chopper and that of Nami for Pipo.
Étrangement it once uses (while having reflected) the laws of Newton.
