Synopsis
Adrian Monk is born in 1958 in San Fransisco. His/her Ambrose brother and have a rather unhappy childhood to him. They receive both a very strict education, especially on behalf of their mother, who refuses any physical contact with her children. The departure of their father, whereas they are still very young, does nothing but worsen the situation. Adrian develops many obsessional disorders thus compulsifs and other phobias.Whereas it is with faculty, Adrian falls quickly under the charm from Trudy Ellison, a pretty fair young girl who will become then his wife. It integrates the police force of San Fransisco where its intelligence and its impressive direction of the deduction make a police officer out-par of it. Adrian saw at this time the most beautiful years of its life.
Alas, a terrible event comes to break this happiness. November 11th, 1997, his Trudy wife is victim of an bomb attack whereas it is at the wheel of its car, in an underground car park. Monk will not go back from there. Its disorders are accentuated, Adrian is then dislocated of its functions, it is not ready to exert. He saw a black period then where only its personal nurse Sharona Fleming, who will become her best friend and its assistant (by the force of the things) and its psychiatrist Charles Kroger support it and help it to leave itself there.
Thus a few years later, Monk takes again service as a private consultant of the police force of San Fransisco. He collaborates then with the captain Leland Stottlemeyer and lieutenant Randall Disher in order to solve the most complex businesses, by having always the hope that it is reinstated.
Unfortunately, Adrian loses its assistant, nurse, and friendly Sharona, which leaves to join its ex-husband with the other end of the country. It then finds, at the time of an investigation, Natalie Teeger, a barmaid, also unmarried mother since the death of her Mitch husband. It leaves its work to become officially the new assistant of Monk.
Adrian hopelessly seeks the murderer of his wife, the only homicide which it never succeeded in elucidating. After so much of years of research and hope, this business remains a mystery for him…

Music
As of the first episode, the credits exclusively instrumental, were composed by Jeff Beal.Later on, the song It' S Jungle Out There , is written and interpreted by Randy Newman, was added. The words stick perfectly to the personality of Monk and the environment of the series:
It' S.A. jungle out there ( It is the jungle here )
Disorder and confusion everywhere ( the disorder and confusion are everywhere)
No one seems to care ( Nobody seems to pay attention)
Well I C ( Me, if )
Hey, who' S in load young stag? ( Hey, which is responsible here? )
It' S.A. jungle out there ( It is the jungle here )
Poison in the very air we breathe ( Of the poison in the air that we breathe )
C you know what' S in the toilets that you drink? ( Know what there is in water that you drink? )
Well I C, and it' S amazing (' Me, I know, and it is not believable )
People think I' m crazy, 'causes I worry all the time ( people think that I am insane because I am made all the time of it)
Yew you paid attention, you' D Be worried too ( But if you paid attention, you would be made of it also )
You better pay attention ( Made attention)
Or this world we coils so much might just kill you ( Or this world which we like so much could kill you well )
I could Be wrong now, goal I don' T think so! ( Now, I am perhaps wrong, but I do not believe! )
'Cause there' S.A. jungle out there. ( Because it is the jungle here. )
It' S.A. jungle out there. ( It is the jungle here. )
