Monimiaceae
The family of the Monimiacées is a family of plants Angiosperme S of old divergence.
In traditional classification of Cronquist (1981) the family is larger (see Atherospermataceae and Siparunaceae ) that in phylogenetic classification APG II (2003).
Today the family includes/understands circa 150 Espèce S divided into 26 kind S:
- Austromatthaea, Decarydendron, Dryadodaphne, Ephippiandra, Faikea, Hedycarya, Hennecartia, Hortonia, Kairoa, Kibara, Kibaropsis, Lauterbachia, Levieria, Macropeplus, Macrotorus, Matthaea, Mollinedia, Monimia, Palmeria, Parakibara, Peumus, Steganthera, Tambourissa (Ambora), Tetrasynandra, Wilkiea, Xymalos .
They are lianas, small trees, shrubs, producers of essential oils, with persistent sheets of the subtropics to tropical mainly in the southern hemisphere. One finds in this family of the decorative plants or producing edible fruits or sawlog.
