Origin prénéandertalienne (approximately 200.000 years before JC) of the occupation of the commune.

Site called My Jovis at the time Gallo-Roman.

At the beginning of the the Middle Ages, creation of the village of Monilis depend on the County of Sault which will become Monjeu at the 18th century and Monieux at the 19th century.
