Monica Frassoni
Monica Frassoni (Veracruz, Mexico, September 10th 1963) is a political woman Italy.
Biography
Graduate in political science, it begins in 1983 its political activity within the European federalistic Mouvement and in 1987 it is elected European general secretary of the JEF (Jeunes Federalistic Europeans), the section of youth of the movement.
With the European elections of 1999, it is elected appointed European on the list of the French-speaking Belgian Greens, the movement Ecolo and settles with Brussels. During this legislature, it was Member of the Commission of the constitutional deals, member substitute for the commission of the civil liberties, justice and interior matters and of the delegation for the relations with the countries of South America and Mercosur and mixed parliamentary commission EU - Cyprus.
Re-elected in 2004 on the list of the Italian Greens in the North-western district, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio having preferred to devote itself to the Italian policy. Frassoni received 8400 preferential votes.
It is thus registered with the group of the Verts Europeans of which it is Co-president. Candidate with the presidency of the assembly the January 15th 2007, it obtains the second score with 145 votes.
She is member of the Conference of the presidents, of the Commission of the legal affairs, the Delegation for the relations with the Mercosur and member substitute for the Commission of the constitutional deals, of the Commission of industry, research and energy, the Delegation for the relations with the Iran, of the Delegation at the euroméditerranée parliamentary assembly.
She is member of the Board of directors of the Think tank the Friends of Europe .
