Mongo Santamaría
Ramón " Mongo" Santamaría (April 7th 1922 with Havana -, 2003) was a percussionnist afro- Cuba in. In 1950 it moved with New York where it played with the first Big Band of Jazz Cuban Negro and Salsa such as Perez Prado, Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Fania All Stars, etc
In 1963 it had a great success with its interpretation of " Watermelon Man" , composition written by Herbie Hancock.
