Monastery Mor Mattay
The monastery Mor Mattay (in Syriaque: Dayro d-Mor Mattay ) is an orthodoxe monastery syriaque located close to the town of Mosul, in the north of the Iraq.
Founded at the 4th century, it was for a long time the place of residence of Maphrien of the East (the maphrien was an orthodoxe syriaque dignitary for the Persian provinces). It is today the seat of an archbishop's palace.
