Mollières
Mollières is a Hameau pertaining to the common of Valdeblore, department of the the Alpes-Maritimes, area Paca, French Republic.
One writes also Molières . Its inhabitants is the Molliérincs . In language Niçois E (Georges Castellana), its name is Mouliera and its inhabitants is read Moulairenc .
Today depopulated, Mollières has the appearance of an enclave inhabited in the central part of the National park of Mercantour.
In 1850 and 1947, Mollières required to be detached from the commune of Valdeblore.
Although having taken part in the Plebiscite of 1860 with the remainder of the County of Nice, Mollières remains Italian. Victor-Emmanuel II had hunting grounds there. Molliérincs thus had to undergo a new border particularly penalizing.
Mollières was then attached to the commune of Valdieri (Vaudier), Province of Cuneo, kingdom of Italy. 1860 with 1947, Mollières enjoys a special statute because one could reach it only starting from the French territory.
During the Second world war, Mollières was occupied by the Germans in 1943 and was set fire to in 1944.
Afterwards many sometimes dramatic adventures, Mollières at summer yielded by Italy to France to the Treated of Paris (1947). Mollières was then attached to the common Frenchwoman of Valdeblore of which it raised before 1860 but on a purely simply provisional basis because Molliérincs wished to constitute a commune with share. Finally, the Rural migration which touched this hamlet as so much others after the Second world war attenuated the claims.
Mollières was then rebuilt partly and a track connected it to Saint-Martin-Vésubie.
Although its stronghold extended to totality from Valdeblore in 1700, the noble family which was the lord bore the name of Ribotti de Mollières . In Mollières, there were three big families, the Giuge , the Mario and the Richier .
Mollières counts about fifty livable houses, where their owners can go starting from May 15th until October 15th conveys some by the collar of Salèse. The winter, the track being closed with circulation, only the average access to this piece of paradise remains the walking since the bridge of Paule (Holy Saver). It will be necessary to count between 1:30 and 3:00 of walk according to the conditions!!
Mollières remains one of the last French villages without electricity.
The Small valley of Mollières is in the center of the Park of Mercantour but is also in the center of the polemic on the reintroduction of the Loup in France. Indeed, the first wolves were seen there close to the village. The National park always preached the thesis of a natural return, the wolves being numerous on the Italian slope; but that is discussed, like the east the impact of the wolves on the wildlife (Mouflon S, Chamois). Indeed, before the return of the wolf the population of moufflons was enormous, one could count more than 500 heads… Today, there should not remain more but one ten about it.
