Molassana
Molassana is an important district (approximately 30 000 inhabitants) of the periphery of Genoa, located in the valley of the Bisagno, inside the grounds in the east of the city.
At the autonomous common origin, it is integrated in the Grande Genoa in 1926. From there its not very homogeneous composition comes to him: villas - formerly residences of holidays of Génois - alternate with popular buildings. In the same way, of the strongly urbanized cores alternate with fields as into close-cropped campagne. Molassana is a residential suburb which, although popular, remains of rural aspect with many places.
Génois know especially Molassana for its many trattorie of typical ligure kitchen, for its rather many sporting buildings (the multi-field sporting whole of the Sciorba ), and for the excursions which the district offers in abundance, for example along the historical aqueduct of Genoa, which makes here a good part of its course. Worthy also to be mentioned, the " Castelluzzo di Molassana" with 307 m ; an old defensive bastion, older in the country génois, which could go back to the end of the 10th century. Lastly, the Ground Rose ( red grounds ), right under Castelluzzo to approximately 270 m of altitude, made up of rocks and red clay, where the vegetation pains to be essential, thus forming a quasi lunar landscape.
In the history of Molassana it is necessary to recall the adventures of the Great strapping fellow (Giuseppe Musso), brigand of the end of the 18th century which prevailed here, on the road of Genoa with Plaisance. The echo of its legend still gets along, until in a tragedy which was dedicated to him.
Between the massive meadows and buildings one meets the Theater of the Ortica , a company of therapy by the theater and a social, single theater in his kind in Ligurie.
