Moissac-Bellevue

Moissac-Bellevue ( Mouissa in Occitan Of Provence) is a common French, located in the department of the Var and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.

Geography

With 5km of Aups and 3 km of Régusse, the village is located on a hill which dominates of its 579 meters an agricultural flat rich person framed in north by the hills of Defends and of the chain of the Cuguyons (982m) and at the south by the forest of Pelenq (500m).

History

The occupation of the soil is attested as of the time pre-Roman. The " Camp of Olivier" preserve the vestiges of a oppidum celto-Ligurian.
The Roman colonisaction left traces of an important establishment and exploitation of the reiches grounds of the surrounding plains (grinding stones with hand).
The exceptional situation of the village with hillside in fact in XIe century a fortified town idéeal with the hands of the Castellane, first lords of the place. By its marriage with Laure of Castellane, Blacas de Blacas d' Aulps says the " Large Guerrier" becomes in XIIIe century lord of Moissac.
In March 1201, this last yields to the knights Temple of Saint-Maurin all the rights which it holds on the castrum of Moissac, in particular right of pasture. In March 1240, after division of the grounds between its three sons, Blacas, the groin, inherits goods with Moissac, Boniface and Bertrand becomes lords of Moissac. In their turn, on June 3rd, 1249, they yield to Templiers, via Guillaume de Salernes, brother of the order, all their rights on the seigniory. A commandery settles in Moissac, dependant on Saint-Maurin.
The Seigniory appartin thereafter with Lenche of Marseilles, with the Grimaldi - Régusse, Hesmivi then in Coriolis which had it until the Révolution.
It is in the castle of Moissac that the adviser with the Parlement of Provence, Jean-Louis-Hyacinthe d' Hesmivi, lord baron de Moissac, composed part of sound " History of Parlement" , manuscript preserved at the Library Méjanes of Aix-en-Provence.
