Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah

Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah (Arab: محمدحسينفضلالله) is a monk Lebanon board, Shiite which is often regarded as the spiritual leader of the Hezbollah. But for Hezbollah their spiritual leader is the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Fadlallah was born in the town of Nadjaf in Iraq. He initially studied in a traditional school before studying in a modern school creates by the journalist Jamiat Muntada Al-Nasher. In Iraq, it published a minor newspaper, it leaves this country for the Lebanon in 1952. After its installation in Lebanon, it gave much conference, writing of the dozen books, founded several schools nun, creates Mabarrat association. During the Lebanese civil war, it was removed by a Christian militia and it is forced to leave towards Nab' aa (a city of the suburbs of Beirut). He condemned the American interference and Israeli in the internal businesses Lebanese, denouncing the Impérialisme and the Sionisme. It defended the Islamic Republic of Iran and the movements Islamic in Lebanon. In its sermons, it supported resistance armed vis-a-vis the occupying forces Israeli, in Lebanon, in the the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It holds of the relatively liberal sights on the statute of the woman. It was the target of many attempted murder, including a bombardment of its car in 1985 which killed 80 people. Its childhood

Sayyid Fadlallah was born in Nadjaf, the November 16th 1935. His/her father, Sayyid Abdulraouf Fadlullah is Lebanese which emigrated in Iraq in 1928 to continue its theological studies. In 1953, to the sixteen years age Fadlallah went to Lebanon to witness a commemorative ceremony of a Shiite monk. At the time of the commemoration it was illustrated by a poetry which astonished much by anybody. It continues still today to write poetries, who are for the majority on Islamic topics.

Studies

Fadlallah initially studied in a Islamic school (Kutaab) or it learned the Coran and the basic principles from the writing and the reading. These schools which were directed by old sheik traditionalist gave a bad impression to the young disciples and to Fadlallah in particular. It thus decides to give up this religious school to go studied in a modern school rested by a journalist, Al-Nasher of Jamiat Muntada. It remained in this school two years.

It started with studied religious sciences very young person. It read Ajroumiah at the nine years age, then it read Qatr Al-Nada wa Bal Al-Sada of Ibn Hisham. It known very quickly that it was not going to be a traditional monk since it is interested much in the culture and the literary world, it read many books Lebanese, much of Egyptian magazine and Iraqi newspapers. He liked to read Egyptian magazine Al-Musawir, the Zayan magazine (published by Hassan Al-Zayan) magazine Al Katib published by the Egyptian writer Taha Hussein. He discovers poetry at the ten years age, under the councils of its first professor, his father Sayyid Abdulraouf Fadlullah.

He achieved the course which one calls Sutouh or the student reads the book and listens to the explanation of his professor. He also studied the language, logic and Arab jurisprudence. He did not need second professor, until he begins the second part of his studies, Kifayat At Usul that he studied with a professor Iran IEN Sheik mujtaba Al-Linkarani

Return to Lebanon

It finishes its studies in 1966, it is the occasion for him to return to Lebanon. In Lebanon it is interested in all the political questions and social, including/understanding the French Colonialisme, the Islamic unit, unemployment, etc In 1966, it receives an invitation of a religious movement, Usrat Ataakhi (the family of fraternity) which invites it to go in the town of Nabba' has in the suburbs of Beirut, which it accepts. In Nabba', it organized cultural conferences, and it provided religious and political speeches to Shiite monks.

Nevertheless, its principal concern was to continue its university work, thus it founds a religious school, the Islamic institute of the charia. It opened several public libraries, an arts center for the women and a medical private clinic.

At the time of the civil war, it leaves Beirut for southern Lebanon, or it teaches and informs the Shiites of the area. It used the Mosquée like centers to give lessons of interpretation of Coran, as well as of the religious and moral speeches in particular at the time of religious celebration like Achoura. It resumes then its work of academic and it gives daily lessons on jurisprudence and Islamic morals.

Today

Today, Fadlallah supports the Hezbollah, and he condemns terrorism, in particular the Attentats of September 11th and the decapitation of Nick Berg. He took part in 1998 in a university conference in the American Université of Beirut on the women's rights. He published a Fatwa prohibiting the Moslems from helping the Americans to occupy a Moslem country. He currently resides at Beirut or he is one of the main leaders of the Lebanese Shiite community.
