Mohamed Oufkir
Mohamed Oufkir (1920 - 1972) is a Général and Politician Morocco Ain.
Of Berber origin , native of Ain-Flesh in the south-east of Morocco where his/her father had been named covered by Lyautey in 1910, Oufkir becomes captain of the French Army, decorated by the ministry for the armies and that with the indigenous businesses to have fought at the sides of the colonial armies of French Indo-China.
France imposes it like aide-de-camp of the king Mohammed V as of her establishment the shortly after independence. Its role is to reduce the influence of the army of Moroccan national release, to attenuate the plebiscite around the legitimacy of the nationalist parties, in particular the Istiqlal and UNFP, and to build the police structures and of monitoring official and parallel.
Promoted major general colonel then, it is characterized by a anti-popular firmness during its course, precisely during the rising of the Rif in 1958 and the events of Casablanca of the March 23rd 1965. This repression carried out with zeal is worth the nickname of “Stopping to him”.
Its name will become of international significance when it is interfered with the assassination Mehdi Ben Barka, principal opponent with the king Hassan II and general secretary of the Tricontinentale which was held the same year of its disappearance. Although its role is not established formally - plugged by its ambition, it could be handled -, it is condemned by contumacy in France to the forced labors to perpetuity.
He is Minister of Interior Department of 1967 with 1971. An attempt at putsch carried out by the juniors fails the July 10th 1971. On the occasion, Oufkir tries to modify the policy of the king of which he criticizes the entourage.
Preserving the confidence of the king apparently, Oufkir is named commander-in-chief of the army and Minister for defense in 1971. Obtaining the support of several soldiers, it organizes a military putsch which fails, the August 16th 1972, against Hassan II. The royal plane grapeshot succeeds in landing. The Minister of Interior Department Benhima announces the August 23rd the thesis of the suicide of the general félon to explain his disappearance. Its summary execution is not however any doubt.
Mohamed Oufkir was married and father of six children. After the attack, its family will remain imprisoned during nearly twenty years. His/her daughter Malika testifies in captive the , appeared in 2000 and the foreign one in 2006 coécrit with Michele Fitoussi. The same year, its Fatéma widow publishes the gardens of the king . His/her Raouf son is the author of a more political analysis, the guests , published in 2004.
