Mohamed El Baradei
Mohamed El Baradei , often spelled in the anglophone media El Baradei (born the June 17th 1942 with the Cairo in Egypt) is, since February 1st 1997, the managing director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It obtained in 2005 the Nobel Prize of peace with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Biography
Born from a father lawyer, it follows studies of right to the university of the Cairo, where it obtains his diploma in 1962.It begins in 1964 a career within the diplomatic service of Egypt. It is during this period that it is in load of the control of the weapons within UNO.
In 1974, it obtains a Ph.D. in International law with the Université of New York.
Of 1974 with 1978, he is the special assistant of the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
In 1980, it leaves the diplomatic service of Egypt to integrate the Institut of the United Nations for the formation and research (UNITAR), where it is in load of the program of international law.
Of 1981 with 1987, he is also assistant professor of international law at the University of New York.
In 1984 with 1993, it integrates the IAEA as a member of the secretariat. In 1993, he becomes the assistant of the managing director for the foreign relations until in 1997.
Since the 1 {{er}} December 1997, he is managing director of the IAEA. In September 2001, it was re-elected for second a four years mandate.
During the crisis of the weapons of massive destruction Iraq iennes in 2003, it personally presented the various reports/ratios of the IAEA to the Safety advice of the United Nations.
He deplores that the American policy with respect to the Iran and of the North Korea does not make it possible to solve the question of the nuclear weapons in these two countries (source: " Monde" ).
He is currently member of two associations of international law, the International Law Association and the American Society off International Law.
