Modeste proposal

modest Proposition for the reduction of the hunger in Ireland is a test of Jonathan Swift.

Presentation

Modeste proposal is a deeply ironic and humanistic text by what he denounces, and made its author very famous. Swift proposes that the poor of the country sell their one year old older children with those which will have the means of offering this " delicious and succulent repas". This provocante proposal denounces selfishness, the inhumanity and the injustice of the political economy: if the poor are devoured, with the direction illustrated by the policies and the rich person, to propose as much that they are it also with the clean direction.

It reveals also a certain design of the human being whose reason and good sense are doubtful. In this beginning of the 18th century, it is more than ever necessary that the reason triumphs. Swift thus proceeds to a logical argumentation but inhuman which suspends the judgment morals because indeed its proposal will solve these two problems which are overpopulation and the famine but is inapplicable of share its cruelty to the effigy of British colonization.
