Modeste Moussorgski

Modeste Petrovitch Moussorgski (in), born the March 21st 1839 with Karevo and dead the March 28th 1881 with Saint-Pétersbourg, was a Russian Compositeur .

The family of Moussorgski went down from the first Russian monarch, Riourik, via the sovereign princes of Smolensk (the dynasty of the Riourikides). Modeste was prepared by his parents with a military career, but under the influence of Balakirev it left the regiment of the Guard and joined the Five, a group of type-setters, burning defenders of the Russian national music (including/understanding Alexandre Borodine, Mili Balakirev, Nikolaï Rimski-Korsakov and César Cui), in particular folk. Its first musical work published was the unfinished opera Salambbo and a cycle of Chanson S. Starting from 1863, following the abolition of the serfdom which ruined its family, Moussorgski had to work as an administrative employee to provide for his needs. The failure which its works and its difficult situation knew encouraged it to be devoted to the Alcoolisme, which he had already known at the time of his passage (3 years) to the army.

It is especially famous for the opera Boris Godounov , and the continuation for Piano the Tables of an exposure (1874) - orchestrated by Maurice Ravel in 1922.

Anecdote

Its composition One Night on the Mount Bald person was adapted to the cinema for Fantasia and the Fever of Saturday evening. This composition also was taken again by the group of black Swedish metal " Marduk" on the album" Heaven shall burn… When we are gathered" , under the name of " Glorification off the black God". Although shorter than the original and with modified passages, the melodies of bases are respected by the four musicians, who do not defend themselves to like and listen to classical music in addition to extreme metal. In the same way, " Songs and Dances of Mort" was rehabilitated by the group of Thrash metal " Mekong Delta" on the album " Dances off Death" , accompanied by another One Night adaptation on the Mount Bald person. The adaptations " metalliques" work of Moussorgski make legion at " Mekong Delta" throughout their discography. One Night on the Mount Bald person was also adapted in the video game " Earthworm Jim"
