Modern Chinese Music
The modern Chinese music emerged at the XIXe century, with the appearance of the first sound recordings and the advent of " stars" music, in particular with Shanghai, where the Jazz made its appearance in the Années 1930.
The advent of the Popular republic of China in 1949 deeply influenced the musical creation, dedicated to the political requirements of propaganda. The revolutionary operas put in scene at the time, have as their name indicates it, operated an original fusion between a historical tradition and the new politques orientations.
After the death of Mao Zedong in 1976 and the policy of opening operated by Deng Xiaoping, the China opens freely with the Western influences, and the music takes the step quickly by seeing the first groups of Chinese Rock, then of Punk to appear, with its figurehead Cui Jian. More recently, other kinds were popularized, pop, but also Techno and Dub, incarnated by the artist Wang Lei. In addition, certain interpreters of Western Classical music Chinese start to impose their names.
One must keep in mind that in the Chinese rest of the world, in particular with Hong-Kong and Taiwan, other pop stars appeared as of the Années 1960, and more recently, like the singer Wang Fei.
