Moderate Climate

One distinguishes in general several Climat S in the moderated zone, located between the parallel S 30 and 50 degrees of latitude in the hemisphere northern and southern.

Oceanic moderate climate

The oceanic Climat meets on the Western coasts of the continents: in the North-West of the the United States (State of Washington), in British Isles, on the Atlantic facade of France, around the the North Sea and the Handle,… It is characterized by an annual total of precipitations rather strong and by a low thermal amplitude. The summers in the oceanic field are not dry, except accident (like the drynesses of 1976 in France and 2005 in the west of the Europe).

Oceanic climate range

Inside the continents, the oceanic moderate climate is degraded:
  • the thermal Amplitude over the year increases: the weather is colder in winter and more heat in summer.
  • annual precipitations in plains are less important.
  • the winds lose of their force.
Continental climate tranforme then in moderate . See continental Climate.

Mediterranean climate

The Mediterranean Climat is regarded as moderate, but according to the geographical conditions (presence of the Mediterranean for example), it is prone to climatic and weather events particular: Storm S (Cevennes Storm for example), estival dryness .
