Mocoa

Mocoa is the chief town of the Département of Putumayo in Colombia.

Geographical coordinates: 1° 8 ' 55.89" NR - 76°38' 48.28" W

Population = 20.639 inhabitants (2000)

It was founded the September 29th 1563 by the Capitán Gonzalo H. of Avendaño . The economic life of the city is founded on agriculture and the trade. It is a point of meeting for the colonists attracted by the oil exploitations of the department.
