Mixed trade-union of the basin of Sorgues

The Mixed trade-union of the Basin of Sorgues (SMBS), created in 1998, is a public corporation which federates the Mixed trade-union of Sorgue upstream, the Mixed trade-union of Sorgue downstream and the Mixed trade-union of the Channel of Vaucluse. It works for a coherent and rational management of the Sorgue on a catchment area scale, which relates to 18 communes.

Competences

Its competences concern mainly:

• the main trends of installation of the basin,
• the control of work of work or actions interesting the whole of the river,
• the technical direction of the alteration work hydraulic completed by the communities of the basin,
• the realization of general studies,
• the relay enters the various actors public and deprived,
• information and sensitizing on the associated Sorgue and natural environments.

The Mixed trade-union of the Basin of Sorgues is the organizer of the Contract of River “Sorgues”, of the Local committee of Sorgue upstream and the operator Natura 2000 “Sorgues”.
