Miwa Yanagi
Miwa Yanagi (やなぎみわ) is a Japanese contemporary artist. She was born in 1967 with Kōbe. She is graduate in 1991 of the University of the Art schools of Kyōto, she lives and works in Kyōto.
At the beginning of its career, it turns to the digital photograph, which it works over again during hours to lead to images absolutely in conformity with the idea that it wants to express.
Its series “Grain elevator Girls” evokes the condition of the woman in contemporary Japan.
In its series “My Grandmothers” , it artificially puts in scene out-of-date young women 50 years to try to counter the “jeunism” which prevails in Japan. This post-traumatic vision causes a controversy exceeding the framework of numerical Art. Its stylistic speciality consists of a recombination of sociological codes familiar with atmospheres close to the universe of science fiction.
