Mitsuko Uchida

Mitsuko Uchida (内田光子] Uchida Mitsuko), born the December 20th 1948, is a traditional Pianiste Japan ease.

Born in a coastal town close to Tokyo, it left for Vienna at the age twelve years with her parents, diplomats, and entered to the Academy of Music of the Austrian capital where it studied with Wilhelm Kempff and Stefan Askenase.

In 1969 it gained the first price of the Contest of Beethoven Piano in Vienna, then the second price with the international Concours of piano Frederic-Chopin in 1970.

It is known especially for its interpétations of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin, but it also was interested in what is called the Second school of Vienna.

It is artistic director of the Marlboro Festival today, and resides at London.
