Mitford sisters

The six sisters Mitford are the girls of David Mitford (future Lord Redesdale) and Sydney Bowles married the February 6th 1904.

the elder one of the sisters, Nancy (1904 - 1973) is a writer E with success which published With the continuation of the love and the Love in a cold climate . Jessica (1917 - 1996), engaged with the Communist party then joined the Spain to take part in the fight of the republican against the forces of Franco. It left then with her husband Esmond Romilly to the the United States where it defended the cause of the Blacks. She wrote later a Best-seller The American Way off Death denouncing the practices of the undertaking. This work enabled him to become a journalist of investigation for the American newspapers.

Deborah (1920 -), the last of the family, married in 1941 Lord Andrew Cavendish and became duchess of Devonshire.
