Mist

The mist is the product of the Condensation of the vapor of Eau on a cold surface compared to the wet ambient conditions.

Physics

Theory

The saturating Steam pressure depends on the temperature: the hot air is likely to contain more steam than the colder air. The air saturated with water cools on the surface of the cold body, and the Pression partial of water exceeds the saturating steam pressure; part of water is liquefied in goutelettes, which settles on the surface of the body.

Experimental protocol

This phenomenon is usually observed on the surface of a mirror in a bathroom after a hot shower, or on cold panes in winter.
