Mission of the United Nations as a Democratic republic of Congo
MONUC is the acronym of Mission of the United Nations in Democratic republic of Congo. She was created by the Résolution 1279 of the Safety advice on November 30th 1999.
The general headquarter of this mission was installed with Kinshasa, moreover the DRC is divided into 6 sectors, having each one a HQ of sector.

Babacar Gaye, Lieutenant-general of Army, nationality sénégalaise, took its functions of commander of the forces of MONUC.
MONUC, in collaboration with the ONG Fondation Swallow founded in 2002 Radio Okapi become the media more listened in DRC.

The HQ of Kinshasa is on the Boulevard of June 30th, in full district of the businesses (commune of Gombe), to a few hundred meters of the principal embassies (Belgium, France, the United States) and of the large hotels (Hôtel Memling). The principal logistic base and its deposits are located at the south-east of the city, in the commune of Limete. Another important establishment is located at the south-west of Gombe (district Socimat), near the Baie of Ngaliema.

Sexual abuses
Personnel of the Mission of the United Nations in DRC (Monuc) was implied in 140 cases of allegations on abuses sexual exploitation between December 2004 and August 2006.
In spite of a " tolerance zéro" posted, of multiple missions of UNO were entâchées by incidents of this type, in particular in Erythrée, with the Burundi, the Sudan, the Liberia and more recently in Ivory Coast (Onuci).
