Mission of assistance of the United Nations in Afghanistan
The Mission of assistance of the United Nations in Afghanistan , or MANUA , is a political mission and of support for the consolidation of peace in Afghanistan, decided the March 28th 2002 by the Safety advice of the United Nations, during its 4501e meeting, in its resolution 1401 (2002).
Envisaged at the origin for one one year duration, it was renewed on several occasions: the last prolongation intervened the March 23rd 2007, during the 5645e meeting of the Council which, declaring itself again worried by the state of safety in the country , decided unanimously, in its resolution 1746 (2007), to extend for a further one year the mandate of the MANUA, that is to say until March 23rd 2008, while asking the Mission to promote a more coherent international engagement in favor of Afghanistan.
