Mission San Francisco Solano
The Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma (today known under the simpler name of Mission San Francisco Solano ) was founded the July 4th 1823 by the Father Jose Altamira. It was it twenty-and-unième and last of the Californian missions. Its name is a homage to Saint Francis Solano, missionary sent to convert the Amerindian S of the Peru; and had at the beginning being only a sub-mission of assistance with the Mission San Rafael Arcángel.
