Miss the Barn

Marie Ragueneau of Estang , known as Craze , then known as Miss the Barn after her marriage in 1672 with the actor the Barn, was a French actress, born with Paris the May 18th 1639, and died with Paris the February 3rd 1727. She belonged to the Troupe of Molière until 1692.
Biography
His/her father, Cyprien Ragueneau, were the pastrycook of the cardinal of Richelieu, which, wanting to be made actor, followed Molière to Lyon in 1653. It was him which inspired with Edmond Rostand the character of Ragueneau, pastrycook-poet, in Cyrano of Bergerac.Marie, known as then Craze, seems to be entered the troop as a chambermaid of M {{the}} of Brie. After a small role in Invaluable ridiculous the , it played, in 1662, the part of Georgette in the School of the women . But this beginning was undoubtedly not happy, because during nearly ten years, it did not go up any more on scene but to play appearing them, being generally restricted to make in room the tobacconist or the saddle jib crane of drinks. It is said that it was not enough beautiful to occur. Undoubtedly it rather missed talent like his/her father, which one says “that in less than one year of trade, it acquired the reputation of the most malicious actor of the world, just clean to moucher the candles”. Moreover the troop did not accept it in its center, only provided that it were only with half-share, and that it paid three books with the troop each day of representation.
April 25th, 1672, it Maria with the actor the Barn, and it took then the name of Miss the Barn under which it is most known. Playing very little, it had passed to quarter of share in 1680, and a month after the death of her husband, in 1692, it left the troop with a pension of 1.000 books, undoubtedly in regard with the very great talent and the energy which had deployed fire her husband.
She lived 35 more years, and died on February 3rd, 1727 with Paris.
