Mirra Alfassa
Mirra Alfassa (Paris the February 21st 1878 with the 62 Boulevard Haussmann - November 17th 1973 with Pondicherry) also called Soft Mother or the Mère has as an identity Mirra Richard . His/her Egyptian mother and her Turkish father settled in France in 1877. It is known to be at the origin of the city of Auroville in India.
It Maria the October 13rd 1897 at the 19 years age with Henri Morisset, an impressionist artist-painter, disciple of Gustave Moreau, whose workshop was with 15 rue Lemercier in Paris. His/her André son was born the August 23rd 1898. In 1904, it meets for the first time max Theon. It accomplishes a stay with Tlemcen of 1905 with 1906, then founds its first association: Idea. She divorces in 1908 and remarie Paul Richard in April 1910. She accompanies it in 1914 with Pondichéry and meets Sri Aurobindo on March 29th. She spends a first year to Pondichéry then four years to Japan with Richard and returns definitively close to Sri Aurobindo in 1920, via China.
When Sri Aurobindo is withdrawn in 1926, it will leave with that which it started to call the direction Mère of Ashram de Sri Aurobindo, that it founded and that she will finish to organize.
She dies the November 17th 1973 with Pondicherry. She leaves behind her an important written work, in particular her newspaper (“the Diary of mother”) which tells its testing bored in the middle of the matter, that of its own body, to give rise to so that she names “the new species” or “the life without death”.
One of its disciples Satprem supplements this astonishing work by many works of which “genesis of the superman” and “the mental one of the cells”. Satprem nevertheless is not recognized by the majority of the disciples, in particular oldest. He indeed car-proclaimed " nearer disciple and confident" and is shown by Ashram to turn to its own way the writings of Mother. Satprem was excluded from Ashram shortly after the death of Mother.
