Miriam Margolyes

Miriam Margolyes , born the May 18th 1941 with Oxford, is a British actress .

Biography

Born with Oxford, resulting from a Jewish family of Bielorussia, Margolyes studied with Oxford High School to go then to the Université of Cambridge where it started to play around 20 years.

At the beginning, Margolyes lent its voice for then, to devote itself to the play of actor. Its first important role was that of a character called Elephant Ethel . It was acclaimed for its carried of Flora Finching, in 1988 in the film Little Dorrit. In 1993, it gained a award with the British Academy off Film and Television Arts for its role in the Time of innocence, a performance which propelled it in its career and gained notoriety when it lent its voice in James and giant fishing . It remains also known for its role in Harry Potter and the room of the secrecies as a Professor Chourave.

More recently, Margolyes played in films like Me, Peter Sellers, the Ladies of Cornouailles with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, and obtained a big role in the British televised series, Miss Marple in 2004.

The December 30th 2001, it is promoted as officer of the Ordre of the British Empire.
