Mirandais
The mirandais ( mirandés ) is a Romance Langue spoken with the North-eastern about the Portugal. It is the second official language of Portugal but its area of influence is circumscribed. It is an alternative of the Asturien, language also known under the names of astur-léonais or of léonais . The mirandais belongs to the group of the Western asturien but certain features of its pronunciation bring it closer to the Portuguese. In 1999, the municipality of Miranda C Douro and the Université of Lisbon worked out an orthographical standard based on that of Portuguese and, a little later the Portuguese government gave to mirandais its statute of second official language in its area of influence. It counts about 15.000 speakers located in the municipality of Miranda C Douro ( Miranda of L Douro mirandais some) and in some villages of that of Vimioso (Angueira, Caçarelhos and, especially, Vilar Seco).
Its standardization and its promotion are directed by the Anstituto of Lhéngua Mirandesa, created on January 1st 2003.
