Miranda C Douro

Miranda C Douro is a municipality (in Portuguese: concelho or município ) of the Portugal, located in the District of Bragance and the Northern area.

Geography

It is crossed by the river Douro as its name indicates it.

Miranda C Douro is bordering:

  • of the North-East in south-east, the Spain,
  • in south-west, of Mogadouro,
  • in the North-West, of Vimioso.

Demography

In addition to Portuguese, a considerable fraction of the population speaks the Mirandais, alternative of the Asturien, also spoken in the municipality about Vimioso (localities of Angueira, Caçarelhos and, especially, Vilar Seco). The number of speakers of the mirandais is estimated at 15  000.
