Miracle in Alabama ( The Miracle Worker ) is an American film of Arthur PEN left in 1962.

Synopsis

The parents of a blind, deaf and dumb young girl, call upon a specialized teacher, itself with half-blind man.

Comment

Two people côtoient themselves by need and in common do not have really anything: Helen (Patty Duke) does not hear any more, does not see any more and does not speak, there remains to him only the principal touch dominating of a completely demolished structure and this without hope.

Annie (Anne Bancroft), teacher with the revolutionary methods who does not have at the base any affinity with Helen, regarded only as one work tools, must while exerting her trade to test feelings for this gamine locked up in a closed world. The challenge is double, to help to the Helen maximum by its trade and to overcome its reserves with the feelings.

The fight is baited, at the Helen beginning refuses to cooperate, the parents not seeing any progress become hostile towards Annie who must battle firm to preserve the confidence of an entourage more and more skeptic.

Finally the first encouraging results intervene. Helen wakes up, the transformation is striking down.

The tournament is relentless between the two subjects. Annie maintains her capacity dominating, all relational balance holds on this pressure strongly maintained by a teacher determined anything to release on a small rebellious handicapped person who little by little gives up her instincts of resistance for finally subjecting to a law that of the knowledge by the will to learn and to open in the world.

The finally completed combat, a long final pressure will link these two finally alleviated spirits.
