Mir Alisher Navoï or Nizomiddin Mir Alisher (1441 - 1501), born and died in Hérat (Afghanistan), Philosophe and Poète perso - Uzbek of Language tchaghataï which worked at the court of the sultan timouride Husayn Bayqara with Hérat at the end of the 15th century, at the time of the Renaissance timouride.
Foster brother of Husayn Bayqara, senior official and rich landowner, it was itself a large patron and discovered the talent of the great painter miniaturist Behzad who worked for him before entering to the service of the sultan.
In 1472, Alisher Navoï becomes the Vizier (minister or magistrate) and obtains the title of emir.
Its most famous work is “Leïli and Medjnoun” ( Leily and Majnoun ).
The large theater of opera and ballet of Tachkent, capital of the Ouzbékistan, bears its name.
