Biography
Minoru Mochizuki is one of the direct pupils of Jigoro Kano (one of the founders of the judo), of Morihei Ueshiba (founder of the aikido) and of Gichin Funakoshi (founder of Shotokan karate). Persuaded that martial arts are denatured by their separation in various disciplines and their transformation into sport, it assembles the principal techniques of the Japanese martial tradition in a single coherent structure. It supervises and directs the development of this system from its house of Shizuoka where its Dojo, called Yoseikan is frequently visited by specialists in martial arts of the whole world. In 1963, it sends his/her son Hiroo Mochizuki in Europe to develop Yoseikan Ryû to with it. In 2000, it transmits officially the direction of this dojo to his/her son. In the last years of its life, Minoru Mochizuki left for the France to live there with his/her son. Towards the end its life, it suffered from pains to the knees, but that did not deteriorate its practice with the saber. He dies on May 30th, 2003 with Aix-en-Provence surrounded by his son and his small children.
