The Minor Planet Center (MPC, center of the minor objects) is an organization depend on division III of the international astronomical Union (UAI), operative since the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory .

Under the auspices of the UAI and in collaboration with the Office of the astronomical telegrams (CBAT), the MPC has the role of collecting the data of observations concerning the minor objects of the Solar system (Astéroïde S and Comet S), of calculating their Orbite S and of publishing this information. The MPC provides a certain number of services In line to assist the astronomers in their observations, as well as the complete catalog of the orbits of the minor objects (MPCORB), freely downloadable.

The MPC is also in charge of the designation of the whole of the minor objects discovered: asteroids, natural satellite comets and .
