The teams of the Goldens delicious Gopher take part in the university competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Minnesota belongs to division Big Ten Conference.

The most famous team of the Goldens delicious Gopher is that of American football which gained six national titles (1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941 and 1960). Since 1982, the team evolves/moves with the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, enclosure of 63.000 places. From 2009, the Goldens delicious Gopher will evolve/move with TCF Bank Stadium, on the campus. This enclosure will count 50.000 places, but an extension to 80.000 places is already envisaged.

The team of Baseball was three times national champion (1956, 1960 and 1964), that of Hockey five times (1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 and 2003) and that of Basket-ball once (2003). At the female ones, let us note the two recent titles of the team of hockey (2004 and 2005).
