Minister of state (Monaco)
The minister of state is the Head of government of the Principality of Monaco although it is named by and subordinated to the Prince de Monaco. During its mandate, it is responsible for the government action and is in load of the Foreign affairs. As a representative of the Prince, the minister of state directs also the public services, orders the police force, and chairs, with right to vote, the government council.
The station was created in 1911 during the adoption of a constitution. Until the constitutional revision of 2002, it was to be a citizen French, selected among several senior officials proposed by the French government. Since 2002, the minister of state can be as well French as Monegasque and is chosen and named by the Prince, after consultation of the French government. The desire of the people of nationality Monegasque to see one of between them finally reaching the post of minister of State is particularly sharp today.
