Minimo

Minimo is a project of the Fondation Mozilla. The objective is to create a navigator usable by the PDAs and the Cellphones. This type of navigator is often called Microbrowser. There is the different one such as for example mini Opera, mobile Opera, Pocket Internet to explore.

A francized version of Minimo was created on June 30th, 2006 by association Frenchmozilla.

The name “Minimo” is a contraction of “Minis Mozilla”.

The principal constraints introduced by this type of apparatuses are the reduced size of the screen and the small quantity of memory.

In order to reduce the use of the resources systems, Minimo does not include the majority of the not-essential functionalities of Firefox (the navigator more used Fondation Mozilla) like the support of the Protocole ftp. Moreover the navigator uses a particular technology which allows redimensionner the Web pages for small screens. The user interface is also designed to take less possible place.
