Minimarché Kwik-E-Mart

Minimarchés Kwik-E-Mart belong to a fictitious chain of grocers in the animated televised series Simpson. The manager of the branch of Springfield is an American naturalized Indian, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.

History

The Kwik-E-Mart chain began some share in the Himalayas, where the very first store is at the top of an high mountain, which in fact a rather difficult place of access and little attended; even if it has all modern comfort (with same a door opening automatically). The courageous visitors and pilgrims are authorized to put only three questions with the Gourou which directs the grocer.

Kwik-E-Mart of Springfield is not safe from commercial techniques slap-with-the eye and rather doubtful… When To marble, friend of Abraham Simpson, voluntarily freezes in the freezer with ices of the store to awake in a better future, Apu transforms its grocer into " Freak-E-Mart" (in French, Freak wants to say Monstre) and To marble, become the principal attraction of the mini-market, becomes " Frostillicus, the man of glace". The pensioner awakes finally whereas Apu was on the point of selling its head to an oil tycoon… Néammoins, never with court of ideas, the manager reconverted Kwik-E-Mart limps about it of striptease, the " Nude-E-Mart" (in French, Nude wants to say Nu). Less glaucous, the store includes/understands also a utopian garden where go Paul and Linda McCartney when they are of passage in the area. The garden is accessible by the door from the refrigerator labelled " Beer without alcool". And when LISA request in Apu how it makes when a customer wants one of these beers, this last explains: " You know, that does not arrive jamais". In agreement with philosophy végétalienne of APU, the hot-dogs of Kwik-E-Mart are manufactured with Tofu and contain three times more grease than the normal hot-dogs… without nobody noticing the difference. Lastly, a small Hindu statuette throne on the display unit in company of various articles of shoddy goods.

Although it is of a good naturalness and a pleasant temperament, Apu expresses sometimes a with dimensions rather thorough capitalist. Sometimes one sees it cherishing his machine with cigarettes with gratitude because it does not give the discounted product but guard nevertheless the parts. It never fails to repeat with the customer his sentence ritual " Thank you, return to see us! ". Even after an argument with a customer the occurrence Homer Simpson -, he declares " Please, pay your purchases and release and… return to see us! ".

APU has been shown generally rather not very fastidious on the hygiene of the store, not hesitating to give in ray a product out-of-date for two years or fallen by ground and encrusted with filth. Besides that will be worth to him a temporary reference of its station of manager, even if, by doing this, Apu does nothing but obey the orders of the firm… The prices of the products of the mini-market are always raised, even exhorbitants. APU is very with horse on safety; the store is equipped with a surveillance camera and Apu has always at least two revolvers on him…

The concurrent city of Springfield, Shelbyville, has a grocer named " Speed-E-Mart". The city of Simpson comprises also a " Monstro-Marché" , whose currency is " Maximum Mini choice prix" , exact opposite of Minimarché.
