Mini Mac

The mini Mac is a computer sold by the company Apple announced the January 11th 2005 at the time of the Macworld Conference & expo , and marketed starting from the January 22nd 2005.

It is characterized by its small size: its square case with the angles rounded measurement 16,5 cm broad on 16,5 cm of length and 5 cm in height for a weight of 1,3 kg, is hardly more than one case for external engraver. The food of 85 W is external. That makes of it smallest Ordinateur personal never manufactured. Marketed at the origin at the aggressive price of 499 € and sold without keyboard, mouse nor screen, it mainly aims at attracting the users of PC towards the world Mac (“switchers”).

Characteristics

Mini Mac is equipped and powerful compared relatively well with PC with the same range of price. With its origin, it had indeed of a G4 processor and a Graphics card with dedicated memory, enabling him to make turn the majority of the plays of the time. Nevertheless, in order to make it possible most compact, its evolutionarity was sacrificed (not of possibility of changing the processor or the graphics card, only one site report). By saving of space, it integrates a Hard drive into the format 2,5" , generally used in the laptops, a little slower than the disks hard 3,5" traditional. The minis have at least 256 Mo of RAM. Apple announces that a replacement of memory, if it is carried out in an Apple Store store, does not call into question the guarantee. It has an integrated loudspeaker making it possible to have directly mono sound with a rather low maximum volume.

It is currently marketed in two initial versions:

The first model, sold for 599 €, is composed of:

a processor Intel Core 2 Duet in 1,83 GHz;
1 Go of random access memory of the type SDRAM DDR2 PC2-5300;
a graphic chipset Intel GMA 950 with 64 Mo of shared memory;
a Hard drive of 80 Go with 5400 trs/min;
a DVD/graveur reader of CD (ComboDrive);
Extreme AirPort (802.11g or Wifi 54 Mbps) and integrated Bluetooth 2.0+EDR;
a remote control Apple Remote to be used with the software Row Face.

The second model, sold with 779 €, is identical to share a processor to 2 GHz, a reader/engraver of DVD (SuperDrive) and a Hard drive of 120 Go.

The connector industry is composed of 4 ports USB 2; 1 port FireWire 400; 1 port Ethernet Gigabit; an exit screen DVI (provided adapter VGA); an entry and an exit its analogical and optical.

Last evolution of Mac Mini G4 known as " Late 2005" marketed forever officially. In addition to frequencies more raised slightly and a doubled graphic memory, the hard drive passes from 4200 to 5400 turns/minute and the RAM passes from type PC2700 to type PC3200.

Mac mini Intel

Mini Mac has from now on an infra-red sensor with the remote control Apple Remote to enable him to use Front Row (media center of Apple seen for the 1st time on the IMac G5 revision C).
