Mingus Big Band

The Mingus Big Band is a jazz band created to pay homage to the double bass player and type-setter Charles Mingus. This big band is originating in New York where it occurs besides each week. The musicians are 14 there: 5 saxophones (2 violas, 2 tenors, 1 baritone), 3 trumpets, 3 trombones (of which a bass trombone), 1 piano, 1 double bass and 1 battery. Thanks to the virtuosity of the musicians one can hear sometimes also there other instruments like the flute, the tuba or the sax soprano. Talented musicians composed this orchestra and always compose it. This big band received certain prices the such Grammy Award of the Best great whole of jazz (received in 2005).
