Minerva McGonagall

Character of the saga Harry Potter, written by J.K. Rowling, the author makes some for the first time mention in Harry Potter at the school of the wizards in chapter 1.

Presentation

Minerva McGonagall is assistant editor of Poudlard, where she teaches the Métamorphose. It is in very good terms with Albus Dumbledore. It belongs to the Ordre of the phoenix since its origin.

It is also it responsible for the house of the Gryffondor, but even if it appreciates much Harry, which has for it an immense respect, it is intransigent with regard to its many infringements with the payment.

It is one of the five animagus known living at the time of the account, but it is the only one to be itself declared near the ministry. It can thus be transformed into tabby cat at will. In this form, it has marks around the eyes similar to the square glasses which it carries.

McGonagall is a professor of metamorphosis strict and intelligent, which it is to better avoid opposing. Any uproar is punished of a final exclusion of its course, but it has faculty to maintain without effort silence in a class, just like Rogue. In spite of an austere side, it has a large heart and a protective instinct towards the pupils, and in particular for Harry, even if it hides it well behind its small square glasses.

Professor McGonagall likes much the Quidditch and hopes each year very sincerely that the team of its house gains the cut. It is it which makes engage Harry as attrapor as of his first year with Poudlard. It had had evil to accept the sarcastic remarks of Rogue when Serpentard gained the cut of Quidditch the years preceding the arrival by Harry. Also it put all the chances on the side of its team by exempting them of duties.

With the cinema, she is interpreted by Maggie Smith. In film, it carries a long green coat and a black dress, and has the gray hair surmounted of a chignon.

Overall picture

In Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix , at the end of the year school, during the examinations, it was badly in point after having received four rays of Stupefixion while trying to intervene at the time of the attempt at arrest of Hagrid by Dolores Ombrage and three Auror S, of which Dawlish. In the last volume, it would have seemed obvious that professor McGonagall would succeed Albus Dumbledore. However, it is Rogue which is named director of the prestigious school of sorcery by the Ministry for the Magic, fallen under the cut from Voldemort. Minerva McGonagall does not leave fortunately the school. It chooses, like some of her colleagues, to remain to teach at the school in order to protect the pupils from the dangers of the new mode. This last, carried out by professors Carrows, is particularly severe, since Mangemorts intervene directly at the school while teaching. At the end of the work, it is professor McGonagall who organizes resistance against Mangemorts and Voldemort itself while Harry seeks the lost diadem of Serdaigle. It is not without surprise that it finds Harry which had not come in Poudlard this year.

After the end: elements specified by the author

During a recent interview, J.K. Rowling specified that the post of professor of defense against the forces of the evil was not cursed any more, Tom Jedusor, alias Voldemort, having been overcome. A little too old, but certainly young person compared to professor Dumbledore, it will not take the changing of the direction of the school after volume 7.
