Mineral lodging
See also: Lodging
The term mineral lodging is synonymous with Gisement but is generally reserved for mineral masses comprising one or more likely metals of an exploitation (metalliferous lodging).
The original definition of mineral of the lodgings indicated a mineral from which one can extract a metal element. Thereafter, the definition was wide in order to also include nonmetal minerals of economic importance. Moreover, the same mineral can be “mineral lodgings” in certain layers and not in others, if it is present in small concentration or if the geographical position of the layer is not favorable to its exploitation.
The science which studies the mineral lodgings calls the Gitologie.
