Mineira conspiracy

The conspiracy Mineira ( Inconfidência Mineira or Conjuração Mineira in Portuguese) was a revolt fallen through which took place in 1789, in the harbor office of the Minas Gerais, with the Brésil, against the Portuguese domination and the exploitation of the natural wealths of the country by the metropolis.

After the government of Cunha Meneses, famous for his excesses, the new governor of the Minas Gerais Furtado de Mendonça arrives at Ouro Preto in 1788, with the order of launching the derrama (tax required of the population which represents the difference between the real quinto and the 100 arrobas of gold due). However, between 1774 and 1785, the quinto had been of 68 arrobas per annum. 384 arrobas had to be raised, summon enormous, what to cause a rising.

Joaquim Jose da Silva Xavier, known as Tiradentes (it had knowledge of doctor, dentist, geologist and engineer hydraulician) organizes a conspiracy. It shows contrast between the richness of the country and the poverty of its inhabitants. He promises the supports of the foreign powers (France). He proposes to return the ground to his truths owners. The noise of the conspiracy arrives at the ears of a contratador (contractor), which had of large sums in the State. For the price of its debt, he denounces Tiradentes and the fact of taking with Rio de Janeiro the May 10th 1789. The others entreated are stopped in Mined. Tiradentes is hung the April 21st 1792. Three of the most famous Brazilian poets are compromised: Manual Claudio da Costa, Alvarenga Peixoto and Divided into volumes Antonio Gonzaga.
