Mine of Yanacocha
The mine of Yanacocha is the most important mine of Or of South America. It is located in the Région of Cajamarca at the north of the Peru close to the locality of Combaya (district of Encañada).
It is currently controlled by Newmont Mining Corporation (Denver, the United States) and Compañia Peruana Buenaventura and employs 8 000 people. The the World Bank holds 5% of the capital via one of its structures.
Its production of the mine rose in 2005 to 3,3 million ounce S.
