Millennium Tower (Tōkyō)

The Millenium Tower is a construction project of a 840 height meters building on an artificial island in the Baie of Tōkyō to two kilometers of the coast.

This project is directed by the Architecte Norman Foster of the office Foster & Partners.

This building should reach 840 m for 170 stages, divided into six sectors, the Skycenters . It will be able to accommodate 52  000 people and its elevators will be able to transport 100  000 people per day.

True city in the city, the building will have its own hospital, school, shopping malls and center religious. It will be independent énergétiquement and will recycle its own waste.

The finalization of the plan took nearly sixteen years (since 1989). The main issue was to make to a building also high resistant to the winds very violent ones who blow in the area, like with the problem Sismique.

The solution against the winds would be a form Conique and that against the Séisme S would reside in the foundations which trouvraient water basins in form of U . The latter were carried out so that the tower resists the seisms of very high magnitude. The base of the building with the marina will reach 400 meters in diameter.

The estimated cost of the tower is of 10 billion Euro S.
