Mill cavier
The mill cavier is a characteristic Windmill in Anjou, in particular in the Saumur ois. It is composed of a mobile body called hucherolle , supporting the wings and containing only the mechanism of reference of the movement. The hucherolle rests on a conical masonry built with the top of a cellar - sometimes troglodytic -, inside which the apparatuses of grinding are, which explains the name of mill cavier .
In Holland, Germany, England and in other countries a variety of the mill French cavier exists. Instead of a conical masonry, the hucherolle of these mills puts back on a rectangular Piédestal of wood (or on a rectangular or hexagonal masonry) inside whose the apparatuses of the mill are - the Meule S or the Archimedes' screw (for the mills pumps). These mills were normally built without basement. Their use first was (and is still) " the transport of the eau" - i.e. to pump polders in septentrional Holland for example where are approximately a hundred mills cavier, or to drain wetlands. It is said that these mills were developed starting from the mills pivot out of wooden (or mills out of wooden, with pivot). The vertical axis (large iron " arbre") Dutch and German mills is built out of wood, not out of iron - a large tree trunk). Dutch calls them " wipmolens" (of the agitating mills ), German " Koker (wind) mühlen" (of the mills to quiver or windmills quiver ). The quiver, it is the cylinder out of vertical wooden (the pivot " attache") with through which passes the vertical axis (the large tree trunk). The mill the largest cavier in Holland is the " Wingerdse Molen" (the mill Wingerdois ), a mill pumps with a diameter of the wings of 28 Mr. the German mills cavier are much smaller.
