Military order of Virtuti Militari
The military Ordre of Virtuti Militari (Latin of “For the military virtue”) is highest Polish military decoration, rewarding bravery vis-a-vis the enemy. The British Cross of Victoria and the American Medal off Honor can be regarded as foreign equivalent decorations. She is allotted for the acts of heroism and in certain cases to the military chiefs representatives their units.
The order, which includes/understands five classes (Grand Cross, Commandeur, Chevalier, Croix of Gold and Money Croix), was founded the June 22nd 1792 by the Polish king Stanislas Auguste Poniatowski, after the victory of Zielence, at the time of the Russo-Polish Guerre of 1792. Shortly after its introduction, the République of the Two Nations was dissolved, and the divided capacities removed decoration and prohibited its port. The order was restores of 1807 with 1815 under the name of Military Ordre of the Duchy of Warsaw , famous of 1815 with 1831 under the name of Military Ordre Polish then réinterdit several times. Thousands of soldiers and leaders Polish and foreign, several cities and a boat accepted the order of Virtuti Militari, for bravery or exceptional control in period of war. There was no new reward since 1989.
