Militant

At the origins, the term militant (of Latin miles, militis : soldier) concerned the people who fought, the weapons with the hand, to defend (or impose) their own ideas and convictions or those of their school of thought.

Nowadays, in the countries with culture and democratic operation, a militant uses less violent methods, although certain aggressive and constraining actions can sometimes enter the panoply of the militancy.

On the whole, Militancy and Prosélytisme indicate the “burning zeal” of which make proof some in order to rejoin people with a cause.

Moral militancy

The “moral militancy” is today in full rise, founded on other solidarity that the class solidarities, specialized in causes such as the antiracism, the Humanitaire, the defense of the Human rights, the fight against AIDS or the defense of the Environnement, the right of the consuming , the Sustainable development, etc

Evolution of the militancy

One attends the appearance today, at the new generations, of another form of militancy: the militancy Post-it .

The individualization of the company and the ideological disenchantment push people more and more to be begun punctually for precise and concrete causes. These people mobilize themselves according to their needs and aspirations of the moment, but this mobilization does not fit inevitably in the duration.

The old generations felt recipient of the political party (for example) which they defended, regarding itself as elements allowing the machine to advance. The new militants do not engage any more but for the causes which are due to them in heart. Ideological specificities of each one emergent, only the causes corresponding to the personal ideas and convictions (and either to the ideology of a group) are defended.
