Miles X of Walnut trees
Miles Xe of the name, (1271 - 1350) lord of Walnut trees and Vendeuvre, Large bouteiller of France, was high with the dignity of Marshal of France in 1302.
In 1302 it takes part in the Bataille of Courtrai.
In 1328, it saved the king Philippe VI with the Bataille of Cassel by preventing it of the arrival of the Flemings. Thanks to him, those were beaten.
Charged, before the Battle of Crécy, to go to recognize the camp of the English, he advised with the king to differ the attack until the following day. But the troops could not be stopped. “Neither the King, nor his marshals, known as Froissart, could be a Master of their people… And the king went if before it struck a skilled, even three, even four; and thus did all those which accompanied it. ” The chronicle wants that it saved the royal standard.
The marshal of Walnut trees was one of the executors of the king Louis X Hutin in the year 1316.
He died in 1350.
